Baytown Blue Santa is a program organized by the police officers of the Baytown Police Department with support from the Baytown Municipal Police Association. Each year, Baytown Blue Santa provides children of needy families with wrapped Christmas gifts so that the children in these families can experience the magic and joy of the Christmas season. Baytown Blue Santa has been providing families with assistance since the 1970′s. This would not be possible without the support and donations from the local community, businesses and civic groups each year.
The Blue Santa Program operates solely from donations and contributions from within the community. Throughout the year, officers from the Baytown Police Department and other community members work together to compile a list of names of children that they feel would benefit from the Blue Santa program.
The number of families that can be helped depends on the number of donations and contributions the program receives. When a family is nominated, officers visit the families to interview the nominated recipients, as the program is based on need. Gifts are wrapped and delivered to the families by officers and volunteers on the delivery day.
